Replacement Doors and Worktops Click here to go back to kitchens. Replacement Doors Replacement doors can be used to good effect to give your existing kitchen a 'face lift' without incurring the costs of fitting a new kitchen. There are many different styles and colour's to choose from. All replacement doors are made-to-measure ensuring they will fit your existing cabinets. When fitting new doors we use new hinges, in a slightly different position, making sure that we are not using 'tired' holes in the carcass. We can also make matching units to suit gaps, or replace items that are broken. As a rule we do not move or alter existing cabinets, as in our experience, they are often weakened or break upon extraction. The cornice, lightrail and plinth can also be replaced, but it is worth bearing in mind that the more that is changed, the less the price difference is between a 'face lift' and a new kitchen. Replacement Worktops Worktops can be changed without too much difficulty, although if there is tilling down to the top, there is always a risk of the tiles breaking on removing the old top. Generally, it is a good opportunity to change sinks, taps or hobs etc. We have in the past re-fitted existing items with no problem; however occasionally this is not possible as the clips that hold them in place are corroded beyond use or the silicon that secures a stainless steel sink may cause the sink to distort when removing it. Appliances may be changed or added with either type of installation
